etopps Private Chat
How does it work?
It's easy! To create a private, one-on-one chat:
1. Log on. A new window should open automatically. This window will show you "who's online". It is important to keep this window open if you wish to let others know that you're online.
If this window fails to open (e.g., due to pop-up blocker, etc.), simply click the "WHO'S ONLINE?" link at the top of any site page. The window should open shortly thereafter.
2. Within the window, click the relevant icon to:
- View an etopper's profile (Currently, profile information is just Name and Member Since date. We will be expanding this information shortly)
- Invite an etopper to chat
- Add an etopper to your 'Favorites' tab so you can locate them easily
Note Regarding Private Chats:
Once you have invited another etopper to chat, they will receive a real-time invitation via a pop-up window. We recommend waiting a few minutes for the other person to join your chat. If the other person does not decide to join after several minutes have elapsed, please close the chat window.
Using the "Options" feature:
Click the "Options" link at the bottom of the window to set personal preferences, such as:
- Letting other etoppers know when you're online
default: YES - Showing your profile to other etoppersdefault: NO
- Allowing chat from everyonedefault: YES
- Allowing chat from only your 'Favorites' listdefault: NO
- Not allowing chat from anybodydefault: NO
To make changes to these options, simply check the desired box and click "Submit" at the bottom of the window.
